Result Interpretation
Understanding toxicology test results is essential for making informed workplace decisions. QuickCare Solutions provides clear, concise result interpretation supported by Medical Review Officer (MRO) expertise to help you navigate complex situations.
Result Types
Negative
No presence of tested substances above the established cutoff levels. Employee may proceed with normal work activities.
Positive
Presence of one or more tested substances above cutoff levels. Result undergoes MRO review and employee interview before final determination.
Inconclusive/Invalid
The test couldn't produce a clear result due to specimen issues. A retest is typically required under direct observation.
Positive Result Process
For rapid tests showing positive, specimens are automatically sent to certified laboratories for confirmation testing.
Our Medical Review Officer (MRO) reviews all confirmed positive laboratory results.
The MRO contacts the employee to discuss any legitimate medical explanations, such as prescribed medications with valid prescriptions.
If a legitimate medical explanation is verified and documented, the MRO may report the result as negative to the employer.
Final results are reported to the employer's Designated Employer Representative (DER) and the employee with complete documentation.
Important: The presence of a substance doesn't necessarily indicate current impairment or policy violation. Our MRO team provides expert guidance on interpreting results within the context of your workplace policies and applicable regulations.
Understanding False Positives
While our testing methods are highly accurate, false positives can occasionally occur with rapid screening tests. This is precisely why all non-negative results undergo confirmatory laboratory testing and comprehensive MRO review. This two-step process protects both employers and employees by ensuring the highest accuracy in final results.

Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about our toxicology testing services, procedures, and policies.
Our mobile units are available 24/7/365 for immediate deployment. Call 888-250-4659 anytime to schedule testing. For routine pre-scheduled testing, we can arrange appointments at your convenience. For emergency or post-incident testing, we typically arrive within 1-2 hours depending on your location within our service areas.
In cases of "shy bladder," our technician will wait up to three hours and provide up to 40 ounces of fluids for the donor to consume. If they still cannot provide adequate specimen, it's documented as a shy bladder situation. Our Medical Review Officer (MRO) then contacts the donor for medical evaluation. As an alternative, we can offer oral/saliva testing in consultation with your designated representative.
All specimens maintain strict chain of custody. For laboratory testing, samples are either hand-delivered by our certified technician directly to the lab, or shipped via Federal Express Priority Overnight in tamper-evident packaging. Every transfer is documented with signatures and timestamps, creating an unbroken chain of custody from collection through analysis.
Rapid on-site testing provides preliminary results in 5-10 minutes using immunoassay screening. It's ideal for pre-access screening and immediate decision-making. Laboratory testing uses more sophisticated methods (GC/MS or LC/MS/MS) and takes 2-4 business days, but provides definitive, court-admissible results. All non-negative rapid tests are automatically confirmed by laboratory testing. The choice depends on your needs for speed versus maximum accuracy.
Pricing varies based on testing type (rapid vs. lab), panel selection (5, 10, 12, 17-panel), testing volume, and service frequency. We offer competitive rates and volume discounts for regular programs. For a detailed quote tailored to your organization's specific requirements, please contact our team at 888-250-4659 or email [email protected].
We maintain strict confidentiality through multiple layers of protection: encrypted digital systems, role-based access controls, HIPAA-compliant procedures, and comprehensive staff training. Test results are shared only with the tested individual and your organization's Designated Employer Representative (DER). All staff sign confidentiality agreements and undergo regular privacy training. Physical and digital records are stored securely with limited access.
All our specimen collectors are certified through recognized organizations and complete DOT-specific training for regulated testing. Our Medical Review Officers (MROs) are licensed physicians with specialized certification in medical review officer services. They stay current with all federal regulations and undergo continuing education. Our quality assurance program includes regular audits and recertification to maintain the highest standards.
