menu_book Official Definition

A space that: 1) Is large enough for an employee to enter and perform assigned work; 2) Has limited or restricted means for entry or exit (for example, tanks, vessels, silos, storage bins, hoppers, vaults, and pits are spaces that may have limited means of entry); and 3) Is not designed for continuous employee occupancy.

business_center Why This Matters to Your Business

Confined spaces are one of the most hazardous work environments, potentially exposing employees to risks like oxygen deficiency, toxic atmospheres, engulfment, or mechanical hazards. Employers *must* identify all confined spaces, determine if they are 'permit-required,' and implement a comprehensive confined space entry program (29 CFR 1910.146) to prevent fatalities and serious injuries. This includes training, atmospheric testing, and rescue plans.

QuickCare Solutions How QuickCare Supports You

While QuickCare Solutions does not provide confined space entry or rescue services, we support your overall safety program for such operations. Our Respirator Fit Testing is essential for employees who may need to use respirators, including supplied-air systems, for safe entry. Furthermore, our On-Site First-Aid Response and CPR/AED Training ensure that your on-site personnel and our first responders are prepared to manage medical emergencies that could arise during or as a result of confined space work, providing critical immediate care.
