Mobile Respirator Fit Testing for Employee Health

OSHA requires that employees who use tight-fitting respirators must be fit tested:

• Before initial use of the respirator
• At least annually (every 12 months)
• Whenever there is a change in the respirator make, model, style, or size
• When there are changes in the employee's physical condition that could affect the respirator fit (such as significant weight change, facial scarring, dental work, cosmetic surgery, etc.)

Our mobile team can typically test between 40-50 employees in a single day, depending on the testing method and specific requirements. For qualitative testing (QLFT), we can process approximately 4-5 employees per hour. Quantitative testing (QNFT) may take slightly longer.

For larger groups, we can assign multiple technicians or schedule multiple days to accommodate your entire workforce with minimal disruption. We'll work with you to create an efficient testing schedule that meets your operational needs.

We can fit test all types of tight-fitting respirators, including:

• N95, N99, and N100 filtering facepiece respirators
• Half-mask elastomeric respirators
• Full-face elastomeric respirators
• Powered air-purifying respirators (PAPRs) with tight-fitting facepieces
• Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) masks

We use both qualitative and quantitative testing methods to accommodate different respirator types. For full-face respirators, OSHA requires quantitative fit testing, which we can provide with our portable testing equipment.

Before fit testing, employees should:

• Complete a medical evaluation questionnaire (which we can provide)
• Be clean-shaven where the respirator seals against the face
• Avoid eating, drinking (except water), or chewing gum for at least 15 minutes before testing
• Have their assigned respirator available, or we can help determine appropriate models and sizes

The employer should provide a space for testing that is relatively quiet, has a table and chairs, and access to water for employees who need to rinse their mouths during the test. Our team will bring all necessary testing equipment and supplies.

After completing fit testing, we provide comprehensive documentation that meets all OSHA requirements, including:

• Individual fit test records for each employee tested
• Name of the employee and test date
• Type of fit test performed (qualitative or quantitative)
• Specific make, model, style, and size of respirator tested
• Test results (pass/fail for qualitative testing or fit factor for quantitative testing)
• Medical clearance documentation
• Digital copies of all records for your files
• Certificate of completion for your OSHA compliance records

All documentation is provided in digital format, and we maintain secure backup copies to assist with record-keeping compliance.
